LA VALLA FRATERNITY 2019 - 2020
The heart that knows no bounds

Animator - ZAMBIALa Valla is a small village in the countryside of France. Marcellin Champagnat started his ministry in this village as an assistant parish priest on August 13th of the year 1816. The parish was located in the steep slopes of Mount Pilat down the river of Gier. Lavalla had a rural population of about 2,000 people whose means of sustenance was agriculture.
Marcellin Champagnat prayed and trusted in Divine providence and in the intervention of Mother Mary Our Good Mother. God answered his prayers by sending him two young men who served as the foundation members of his new society. The arrival of these two candidates (Jean M. Granjon and J.B Audras) gave rise to the acquisition of a small old house, which served as the community of the new members of the society.
Lavalla house was renovated on the 2nd of January 1817, the young men packed into their new abode. This marked the birth of the institute of the Little Brothers of Mary. The Marist brothers all over the world celebrate this occasion on the 2nd of January each year. The life of the first two Brothers was characterized by poverty and simplicity. Lavalla fraternity in MIC (Marist International Centre) brings to focus on the cradle of the institute. It reminds us of what we members should be: simple men imbued with the spirit of hard work, apostolic zeal and complete trust in Divine Providence and on Mary.
